1. Scope and overview

This Privacy Policy applies to TickMark – Keyword Highlighter, version 1.0.5, a Chrome browser extension published by Media Train OÜ (“we”, “us”, “our”). It explains what information the extension accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

TickMark highlights words and phrases that you choose, using color-coded keyword lists. Its keyword matching takes place in your browser. You do not need to create an account.

This notice applies to the extension itself, not to all services on trust-prompt.com or to other products offered by Media Train OÜ.

3. Information processed by TickMark

3.1 Settings and keyword lists

TickMark stores your configuration using chrome.storage.local. This can include your keywords and phrases, list names, selected highlight colors, enabled/disabled settings, case-sensitive and whole-word matching preferences, and website/domain exclusions. These settings remain in your browser’s extension storage; TickMark version 1.0.5 does not transmit them to our servers.

3.2 Webpage content and website information

When TickMark runs on a supported page, its content script examines rendered page text in your browser to find keyword matches and display highlights. It checks the page hostname against your exclusions. The extension’s popup can read the active tab’s URL to show the current website or local file name and request the number of highlighted matches. TickMark does not maintain a browsing-history database or save copies of scanned webpage text.

3.3 Local HTML files

The extension declares support for file:// pages. Chrome normally requires you to separately enable “Allow access to file URLs” in extension settings before it can run on local files. If you enable that option, TickMark can examine text in supported local HTML pages using the same on-device highlighting logic. It does not upload the file content to us.

3.4 Imported and exported configurations

If you select a JSON configuration file to import, TickMark reads and validates its contents locally. If you export settings, TickMark generates a JSON file containing your configuration, potentially including keywords and excluded domains, for you to save. You are responsible for protecting any exported copies.

4. Why this information is processed

TickMark uses the information described above solely to deliver the features you request: detecting and highlighting matching text, remembering your preferences, displaying match counts, applying exclusions, and importing or exporting your configuration. The extension does not use your keywords to build advertising profiles, score websites, or make automated decisions about you.

Where GDPR applies to personal data processed by Media Train OÜ, the relevant legal basis depends on the activity. Support correspondence is generally handled under our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), or Article 6(1)(b) where necessary to respond to a request connected with a service. TickMark’s ordinary local page scanning and settings storage are carried out within your browser without transferring that information to us.

5. Data transmission and sharing

Based on the reviewed version 1.0.5 extension package, TickMark contains no extension-operated backend connection, remote analytics SDK, advertising tracker, or network requests to transmit your keywords, page text, visited URLs, or settings to Media Train OÜ or third parties.

We do not sell or share TickMark’s locally processed information with advertisers or data brokers. Your browser, the websites you visit, and any local files or services you independently use may have their own data-handling practices, outside TickMark’s control.

6. Chrome permissions and site access

TickMark version 1.0.5 declares the following Chrome API permissions:

  • storage: saves your keyword lists, colors, matching options and exclusions in local extension storage.
  • activeTab: supports access to information about the currently active tab and communication with TickMark’s content script when you use the popup.

It also declares content scripts that can run on HTTP and HTTPS webpages, plus local file:// pages where Chrome allows access. This broad website access is necessary for automatic highlighting across sites you choose to visit. You can disable the extension, turn off highlighting, or exclude specific domains. Chrome restricts extension access to certain protected pages.

TickMark does not request the history, cookies, identity, or downloads API permissions in the reviewed package.

7. Storage, retention and deletion

Your TickMark settings remain in Chrome’s local extension storage until you change or delete them, clear the extension’s storage, or uninstall the extension. TickMark does not maintain a corresponding account or server-side settings copy. Local storage is specific to your browser profile and may be affected by browser profile management, backups, or device policies.

To remove your settings, delete the keyword lists and exclusions in the extension, clear its stored data in Chrome where available, or uninstall TickMark. Previously exported JSON files must be deleted separately wherever you saved or shared them.

Support emails are separate from extension storage. We retain support correspondence only as needed to respond, handle follow-up requests, or comply with applicable legal obligations; there is no fixed retention period stated for all support correspondence.

8. Security

TickMark minimizes data transfers by performing matching in your browser and storing settings locally. It uses the browser’s extension storage and highlighting APIs. However, no software or device is completely secure. Keep Chrome and your operating system updated, restrict extension access where appropriate, and treat exported JSON files as potentially sensitive because they may reveal your interests or confidential terms.

10. Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure

TickMark’s use of information obtained through Chrome extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Information accessed through Chrome APIs and content scripts is used only to provide or improve the user-facing keyword-highlighting features described here. TickMark version 1.0.5 does not transfer this information to third parties, use it for personalized advertising, or permit our personnel to review your locally processed webpage text or keyword lists.

11. Our website, support and Google services

This policy covers the TickMark extension, not all processing on trust-prompt.com. Our website’s hosting provider may process technical information such as IP addresses, timestamps, and request metadata. Cookies, forms, analytics or embedded third-party services on the website, if used, require separate disclosures in the website’s privacy notice.

If you email our support team, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, and any attachments. Google separately operates Chrome and the Chrome Web Store under Google’s Privacy Policy.

12. Updates to this policy

We will update this notice when TickMark’s functionality, permissions, or data-handling practices change, and revise the date displayed at the top. Material changes will also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures as required. This notice describes the reviewed version 1.0.5; later versions should be checked before publication.
